Understanding booking lead times (hours vs. days) and slot openings
💡 Do you want to configure exactly when your users can book (the day before, the same day, etc.)? It is essential to understand the difference between configuring in Days and in Hours, as MOFFI interprets them differently.
The difference between Days and Hours
When you configure a lead time (minimum or maximum) in the booking rules, the choice of time unit changes the system's behavior:
- In Days: The system adapts to your calendar. It takes into account working days and your space configuration. If you block weekends, a "1 day" rule configured on a Friday will apply correctly for Monday.
- In Hours: The system calculates in continuous real-time (24/7). It makes no distinction between working days and weekends. The hours elapse in a purely chronological manner.
ℹ️ Tip: If your goal is to open bookings "the day before for the next day", always prioritize the configuration in Days.
Using hours would force you to perform complex calculations to include weekends (e.g., setting 29h or more), which is a source of errors.
When do bookings open (Maximum Lead Time)?
This is a frequent question regarding the "Booking possible only for the next day" configuration (Maximum lead time = 1 day).
By default, if you choose the 1 Day option: booking access for the next day unlocks automatically at midnight (00:00).
🚀 New: Do you want to define a specific opening time (e.g., "The day before starting at 1:00 PM")? This is now possible! You should not rely solely on the "Day" parameter, but use the specific opening time rule.
The role of Minimum Lead Time vs. Fixed Time
It is important not to confuse "Minimum Lead Time" with a fixed opening time.
- Minimum Lead Time: This is a sliding window. It prevents booking for the next X hours from the current moment (e.g., "no booking less than 2 hours in advance").
- Opening Time: This is a fixed rule (e.g., "Bookings open at 1:00 PM").
✅ In summary: For simple management that respects weekends, stick to Days. If you need to control the exact release time, combine this with the opening time rule rather than trying to "work around" it with hourly lead times.
